Transparency- Eye Of Abstraction collection
From Canvas to Closet: The Story Behind the Abstract Eye Collection
“Every work of wearable art begins with an original idea.”
One of the questions I explore through my artwork is, what does it really mean to be clothed?
Clothing has always served a practical purpose. It protects us, provides comfort, and can give us confidence and dignity. But I began wondering whether clothing could do something more. Could it express the way we think? Could it reflect creativity rather than simply cover the body?
Those questions became the inspiration for the Abstract Eye Collection.
Unlike some of my other collections—which may begin as original photography, hand-drawn illustrations, or digital artwork—the Abstract Eye Collection began as an original painting. (Photo above.)
As I painted, I found myself returning to the image of the eye—not as a symbol of watching others, but as a symbol of perception, imagination, and the mind’s eye. The repeating eyes throughout the design represent the creative awareness that allows us to see possibilities beyond what already exists.
Clothing that doesn’t hide who we are. Instead, becomes another way to express ourselves. The garments in this collection are meant to clothe the body without closing the mind. They are a reminder to remain open, curious, transparent, and creative.
After completing the painting, I transformed the artwork into a repeating textile pattern. From there, I explored the design through multiple colorways. Each version offers a different emotional experience while remaining faithful to the original artwork. Whether you’re drawn to bold, vibrant colors or quieter tones, each palette tells the same story in its own unique voice.
This process reflects the philosophy behind Artist Dione. Every collection begins with an original creative work—whether that’s a painting, photograph, illustration, or digital composition—and evolves into wearable art designed to become part of everyday life.
When you wear a piece from the Abstract Eye Collection, you’re not simply wearing a printed fabric. You’re wearing the evolution of an original artwork and becoming part of the story that inspired it.
For me, that’s what wearable art is all about.
It’s creativity you don’t just admire—you become in.
